Become a Real Trader

Going through the Trader Development Desk process and making it to the live trading desk has been instrumental in my trading career. What stood out to me from the start was the vision of the team to actually develop and support traders as individuals on their Futures trading journey versus simply trying to benefit from masses of traders signing up.

Having simple drawdown rules to follow instilled discipline into my trading while also feeling relaxed at the possibility for unlimited resets. Secondly, the 1:1 support and direct contact with veteran traders of 20+ years in the market was what initially attracted me to want to persevere and make it live. This direct support has been a massive accountability tool that you don’t get trading alone and I believe is what separates TDD from many other firms.

Lastly, weekly planning sessions, sophisticated platforms and tools and being in an environment of other like-minded traders makes the experience feel like you’re in a place to grow exponentially and develop into a profitable professional futures trader.

What I really liked about the Phase 2 challenge at Trader Development Desk was being able to test my skills in a professional environment. The senior traders were always approachable, and I felt comfortable being honest about where I was struggling and asking questions.

It was also great being able to chat with the other traders on the desk. Knowing that other people were working through the same challenges made the journey feel much less isolating. The guys on the desk are hardworking and hilarious, and they made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.

Trading on your own is a lonely endeavor. I wanted a professional environment with the infrastructure behind it and people around me who have done this themselves, and that is what Trader Development Desk has been. They hold me to a higher standard and they are straight with you about it, which is exactly what I was looking for. I feel a genuine connection with these guys, which is not something I expected from a prop firm, and I'm looking forward to a long relationship with them.

What I like most about TDD is how practical the evaluation path is. Phase 1 lets you reset and keep working within clear time, profit-target, and max-drawdown rules, so you can actually test and refine a strategy that fits you instead of rushing. It took me a year to pass Phase 1. That sounds long, but it was worth it — once the method was locked in, progress sped up. That is the real value of Phase 1. I am now in Phase 2 and, on day 30, sitting at about $19k in profit. The weekly strategy sessions and full-week recaps have also been very useful. Because of the time zone I mostly watch the replays, but they still help a lot in live trading. The mentor course is what helped me build a real system — it addresses each trader’s actual issues and makes the evaluation much more efficient. I have not used other prop firms, but TDD genuinely helped me build a trading process that fits the way I trade.

I wasn't looking for prop capital so much as I was looking for a team — people who'd actually guide me and catch mistakes instead of leaving me to trade alone. Trader Development Desk gave me that. The evaluation was smooth, and when I did hit a real issue, the team worked through it with me fairly instead of brushing it off.

Since going live, I've had wins and a rough stretch I traded back out of, and I've learned more from this process than I expected to — not just about markets, but about discipline and having people around who hold you accountable. I'm genuinely thankful for that. If you're deciding whether to try it, know you won't be doing this alone.
