Core Philosophy

At Trader Development Desk (TDD), we believe success as a professional trader depends on two key factors: a genuine edge and consistent discipline. Our selection process is designed to assess both.

Baseline Trading Behavior

What exactly does "baseline behavior monitoring" mean?

From your very first trade, we build a comprehensive profile of your trading approach. This isn’t about judging individual trades - it’s about understanding how you trade.

We look at:

  • Position sizing strategies
  • Risk exposure patterns
  • Execution consistency and methodology

Think of this as a unique fingerprint of your trading style, allowing us to determine not just what you trade, but critically, how you trade. This baseline profile is essential for assessing your potential to manage the firm’s capital on the Live Desk.

What happens when you reach the target

Once you reach the $10,000 target, your place on the Live Desk is confirmed.

Before you start, we review your assessment, not to decide whether you qualify, but to understand how best to set you up for success. That means determining your starting size, setting appropriate risk limits, and identifying where additional support will have the greatest impact.

The focus is on consistency, discipline, and evidence of a sustainable trading edge - not a handful of outsized wins. Sharp reductions in risk-taking or significant shifts in trading style can signal uncertainty in the underlying strategy. On a professional desk, consistent execution and repeatable performance matter far more than occasional big wins.

The Evaluation Framework

The assessment isn’t merely about reaching a profit number. When we review your account for the Live Desk, we also look at:

  • Execution consistency
  • Position sizing discipline
  • Effective drawdown management
  • Adaptability across diverse market conditions
  • Sustainability of your trading edge

This applies to whichever package you’re on. The assessment is intentionally flexible. You’re encouraged to trade naturally and demonstrate disciplined, systematic performance rather than rushing towards the target. There are no minimum trading days and no time limit.

What does the Assessment + Development package include:

The assessment is the same on both packages. The Development package adds a structured, group-based programme led by Senior Traders. This includes:

  • Performance coaching and monthly performance reviews
  • A monthly report on your trading
  • Sessions ahead of major news events and webinars from world class traders
  • Access to the Trading Floor and chat, and priority support

The Development package is there to support your development as a trader while you complete your assessment.

Reset Policy and Monthly Subscription

The assessment costs $389 a month on Assessment Only, or $789 a month with Assessment + Development. Your assessment fees will be credited against your first withdrawal on the Live Desk, provided you have followed our Terms and Conditions. The credit is calculated at the assessment rate of $389 per monthly payment, on the account you passed with.

For the detail on how fees are credited on each package, see: Are Monthly Assessment Fees Refundable or Credited?

Resets are included in your subscription: three on Assessment Only and unlimited on Assessment + Development. They are there to help you learn. We understand that even highly skilled traders occasionally face setbacks or challenging market conditions.

However, frequent resets caused by poor risk management, reckless leverage or a failure to stick to disciplined trading rules show that a trader is not yet ready for the Live Desk. When a reset does happen, it’s worth noting down what caused it, what you make of it, and what you’ve changed as a result.

In short, resets aren’t inherently negative - how you handle them reveals your trading maturity and professional mindset.

Development Timeline: How Long Should the Assessment Take?

There is no time limit, no minimum trading days and no benefit to rushing. Exceptional traders may naturally progress faster, but speed is never valued above demonstrating consistent, disciplined performance.

Your goal isn’t merely hitting evaluation numbers; it’s proving that your trading style, discipline and consistency are ready for the firm’s capital.

Building for Long-Term Success

At TDD, we firmly believe that the process by which you achieve profitability is just as important as profitability itself. Every step in our selection and development process is crafted to identify traders genuinely capable of managing meaningful capital.

We’re not looking for traders simply capable of passing a test. We seek those who understand the seriousness and responsibility of trading the firm’s capital.

Key Principles to Remember:

  • Consistency outperforms occasional brilliance
  • Effective risk management demonstrates maturity
  • Sustainable edges require disciplined execution
  • Professional growth is continuous and never-ending

Approach every trading day as an opportunity to demonstrate disciplined, consistent trading.
